My remix of The Freestylers' 2004 hit Push Up (which is now a mash-up with the Cameo hit Word Up) is out now on Ministry of Sound's label, Data Records with remixes by AC Slater and the Stanton Warriors (hooray). Out now on vinyl and download in all good stores.
Supersonic Lovers' "Pinero" is now out on Love Is War. You get special remix from yours truly alongside head honcho Marcus J Knight and Eon, along with the original and Ilija Rudman's boogie mix .Their debut release on Radius Records “Dance, Prance and Boogie” received worldwide support and club play from the likes of Prins Thomas, Funk D'Void and Laurent Garnier. It's out now in shops and can be bought from the usual outlets, including Juno, Phonica and Piccadilly Records. This one's been getting strong dj support from Faze Action, Pete Herbert (Reverso 68) and Lasermagnetic, to name just a few.

Kid, (or Michael to his mum) began his musical odyssey as somewhat of a musical snob, always preferring a large dose drum&bass to anything else. He championed D & B for several years, including a stint in LA at a time when the US had only just got a taste for it. On his return Kid promptly lost his mojo, stopped record shopping and got into croquet knitting for his kicks instead.
However, an invite to DJ at a friend's party in a South London bar changed things completely. Fired up by the prospect of his first headline set, Kid soaked up every single musical influence he could get his grubby hands on and built the mother of all record collections. Armed with several hundred shades dance music, he promptly blew the roof off.
Still on a high from his new acquaintance with DJ utopia, Kid started organising parties with a couple of like-minded friends, leading to an extended stay at Brick Lane's 93 feet east, Hoxton institution 333 and The Cross for the one and only Renaissance (who've still made room in their schedule to let him have his 5 hours of fame).
In the meantime, Kid had come round to the idea that you gotta put out (tunes that is) to make a name for yourself, and promptly knocked up the track "Mamas" in the comfort of his living room. Fast forward to the present, and this funk-fuelled effort has seen a cheeky 7" release on the small but beautiful Freestyle Records imprint.
More productions have flowed from the Circus loins in the, form of his Cr2 debut, "O for Oranges", under his Barbara from Brazil moniker and more Kid/Babs business for the likes of 852, Devore Recordings, Nish Nish and Love Is War Music. And that's not to mention his new labels, Room for Manoeuvre for house, house and nothing but house, and Not for Kids, to be used as an outlet for, well, pretty much anything he feel's like really (Kid still expects to whore out future productions to a label near you).
It would be churlish to suggest that Kid's DJ sets take you on a journey (yawn)...have a sound so unique like nothing you've ever heard before...is the Larry Levan of his generation...blah blah blah...that would be talking bollocks frankly. It really depends where you catch the him, as one minute he'll be flirting with house of a techy, dare we say bumpy persuasion, or sweating the technique with his beats and booty break selection. He's quite simply a man for all seasons (preferably spring and summer, if that's ok). In any case yer man will quietly go about his business, rock the joint in his own inimitable fashion fuelled by nothing but cranberry juice and a sweet-natured grin.
It's always good when the Circus is in town.
