Neo Disco Punk is back. This time, it’s on Easter Sunday!
We’ve managed to secure the services of US disco don Cole Medina, in what will be his UK debut. The Nest, with it’s intimate basement is the perfect place for us to showcase his talents. Alongside Cole will be Paul Barkworth, Mrs NDP and Kid Circus (erm, yeah, that’s me).

I am by no means a culinary expert of ANY kind, so please take this as no more than the ramblings of a man who has an insane appetite for mince pies. The thing is, because I started this mince pie eating lark rather early, someone suggested I should start to compile my own ratings. How could I resist?

Bettys *****
All of these are amazing, but Frangipane mince pies, are to die for. The almond frangipane sponge is such a delicious twist on an old formula. Believe me when I say it upset me when I finished my supply. These little beauties are next level.

Villandry *****
I very nearly didn’t bother going to Villandry for their mince pies, but boy am I glad I did. These just taste show fresh and buttery, and because of their mini size it’s hard to stop eating the things once you start.

Fortnum & Mason mini Raphael chocolate ****
Chocolate and mince….chocolate…..and mince….?!?!?!?! Yes, chocolate and mince. Sounds so wrong. Tastes so right. Exquisite.

Paul A. Young ****
Paul A Young has entered the fray with his brownie mince pies. Before you raise your eyebrows, just try them. Whoever said you should mess with a formula needs to take a good long look at themselves. They are rich and full of knock-your-socks-off flavour.

Duchy by Waitrose ****
This is in the top tier. The pastry is exquisite, and melt-in-the-mouth buttery, and the filling has an almost boozy taste. Top notch.

Harvey Nichols ****
There’s been a “mini” going on with some makers mince pies, and I do not object. These pies are tiny - small but beautifully formed - but their pastry is lovely and crisp, and that mincemeat packs a tangy, fruity punch.

As you can see, this is by no means an exhaustive list, just a rundown of some of pies I’ve had that I felt worth a mention. That’s it, disclaimer done.
Have a Merry Christmas….have a pie.

Very excited to tell you about a new radio show I’ll be doing for BPG London on HKG FM. It’ll be me sharing music I’m into, be it old and new, and not necessarily stuff purely geared for the dancefloor (although that will of course feature). Got some great guests coming up too. Watch this space…….
